Kudrina Maria Alekseevna

Major of the medical service Maria Alekseyevna Kudrina was born in Verkhnyaya Tura, Sverdlovsk region, on April 13, 1920. After graduating from high school in 1938, she entered the Sverdlovsk state medical Institute and received a doctor's degree in September 1942. In January 1943, she was drafted into the active army as a military doctor. She fought in the 3rd Guards army of the South-Western, 4th Ukrainian, and 1st Ukrainian fronts. She was the head of the sanitary service, then a surgeon in a field hospital, head of the surgical Department. In close proximity to the front, the doctors of the field hospital rescued wounded soldiers, returned them to the ranks, and the seriously wounded were sent to the rear after being provided emergency medical care. In the field, the hospital was located in tents or in minimally suitable premises. More than once they were bombed and shelled by the enemy, and at the cost of their own lives, first of all they tried to save the wounded. They participated in the liberation of Ukraine, Poland, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. News of the Victory came when the hospital where the military doctor M. A. Kudrina served was located near the city of Prague. She was awarded the Order of the Red Star, medals "For the capture of Berlin", "For the Liberation of Prague", "For the victory over Germany. She was demobilized in October 1945. After the Victory, she was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War, 2nd degree, many anniversary medals and commemorative signs. In peacetime, for more than 50 years, she worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk region, helped thousands of children to be born, and preserved the health of many women. She moved to Moscow in 2006 to live with her daughter and grandchildren. She died on December 19, 2010 at the age of 91. She is buried in Moscow at the Central Khovansky Cemetery.
