Kolesnikov Ivan Iosifovich

Rank: Red Army soldier. The story of Kosygin's grandson Ilya Igorevich. Hardly anyone knows the name of Ivan Iosifovich Kolesnikov. As recorded in the red army book-Junior Sergeant, Rifleman of the 7th motorized rifle company of the 73rd part of the mechanical regiment. Why do I want to tell about him? It's very simple – he's my grandfather. Grandfather Vanya was born on November 4, 1923 in the Oryol region of the Chernavsky district, a collective farm – "Uspekh". He finished his seventh year and went to study as a boilermaker-assembler. By the beginning of the war, he was about 18 years old. My grandfather went through the entire war and was wounded. From my dad's story, I know that Junior Sergeant Kolesnikov was captured, though he was not there for long – he escaped. But the result of captivity was not unnoticed– he was demoted to private. Private Kolesnikov participated in the liberation of Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, and Hungary. It was there that he heard the news that Germany had capitulated. But my grandfather's military service did not end there. Since he did not have time to serve in the army before the war, he had to do so after it. Ivan Iosifovich was discharged on February 4, 1947. My grandfather doesn't have many medals. The most valuable are the "Medal for Bravery", "For the Victory over Germany”. My grandfather didn't like to talk about the war. He may not have performed any special feats, but I believe that my grandfather is a real hero, because he honestly and completely fulfilled his sacred duty-the duty of the defender of his Fatherland!. I haven't seen my grandfather, he died before I was born, but I know him from my dad's stories. But the "war in my family" didn't end there. In 1986, my father, Igor Ivanovich Kosygin, was called up for active military service and in 1987 was sent to the Republic of Afghanistan. My father, like my grandfather, was awarded medals for performing his military duty. For me, my father and grandfather will always be an example of a true Russian Soldier!
