The division performed garrison duty in the North Caucasus and Western Ukraine, performed tasks at the place of deployment to protect internal law and order, the rear of the Active Red Army, took part in the elimination of political and criminal banditry, in the defense and liberation of the North Caucasus, in the elimination of Western Ukrainian armed detachments of the UPA - OUN, SB – OUN, and Polish armed detachments of the Army of Krajov. Examples of combat, operational and service activities of the division: from 01 to 11 November 1942, the Ordzhonikidze Defense Division destroyed and disabled over 2000 Hitlerites, 14 tanks, 32 vehicles, suppressed 2 artillery batteries, 12 mortar batteries, shot down 9 planes, hit 2 planes, captured 16 tanks. In the first half of 1943 the division units in Krasnodar region detained 289 traitors, 1025 bandits, 1741 deserters from the Red Army, forced 636 bandits to surrender voluntarily to the authorities.
