Boikov Ivan Ivanovich
Boikov Ivan Ivanovich - my great-grandfather. He is a submariner. 76 years later he came back from the war! I am proud of him! Essay by Zakhar Belousov, a student of the 3rd "B" class of the school №12 in Rzhev. In 2018 a very interesting, amazing and touching story happened to our family. One day my mother read an article about the "Reconnaissance and Diving Team" looking for relatives of the deceased Red Navy submarine Ivan Ivanovich Boikov, born in 1917, which was born in the Tver region in the Rzhevsky district in the village of Ligostaevo in the village of Medvedevsky. The documents were found on the submarine "Shch-405" sunk during the Great Patriotic War (photo "Pike-405" before the last campaign is attached). The submarine was found by search engines during the annual search expedition "Bow to the ships of great Victory". Search engines were able to find the names of 39 dead crew members. One of them turned out to be my great-grandmother's brother, an elderly Red Navy man, electrician Ivan Ivanovich Boikov. Great-grandmother Nina told my father the life story of her brother, but she did not know where and how Ivan Ivanovich died. Ivan Ivanovich was born in 1917 in the village of Ligostaevo, Rzhevsky district. After graduating from high school, he entered a sports school and after graduating he worked as a sports teacher at the Medvedev School. In 1938 he joined the army and was assigned to the Baltic Fleet. He completed the courses for submarine electricians and was assigned as an electrician to the submarine "L-2" (Stalinets), but in the night of 14-15 November 1941 the boat was blown up by three ground mines and sank. All but three of the crew members were killed. Among the fled submariners was my great-grandfather Ivan Ivanovich Boikov. After he had been treated in hospital, he returned to the Red Army and was assigned to the submarine "Shch-405". The whole first winter of 1941 the boat stood in the besieged Leningrad and was transferred to Kronstadt on June 8. 13 June 1942 - the day of death of the legendary "Pike". On the crossing from Kronstadt to the island Lavensari (today Mighty) the submarine was lost off the island Seskar in the Gulf of Finland. This was the second and last time the submarine set sail. At nightfall on 12 June 1942, the submarine moved on the surface. In the night of 13 June 1942, it passed the island of Cescar but did not reach Lavensari. On June 15, 4 miles west of Seskar, patrol boats found the bodies of three submarine crew members in the water, including Crew Commander Grachev I. V. An aerial search for the ship revealed the presence of a large oil spill 3 miles northwest of Nagaev Bank, where the Germans had laid a minefield. The ship was blown up at the outermost mine of this barrier, if they had gone a little to the left, my great-grandfather could have survived. The submarine was torn in half. The boat is at a depth of 50 meters, at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The legendary Shch-405 was discovered on April 28, 2018. The entire crew was considered missing after the connection to the submarine was lost. Therefore the family did not know where Ivan Ivanovich Boikov had died. His mother and older sister continued to live in the village of Legostaeva. They are buried in the cemetery in Medvedevo. House in the village Legostaeva, where he lived, my good great-grandfather, unfortunately not preserved! Only thanks to the work of search engines we know the exact place of death of Ivan Ivanovich Boykov. I am proud that my family had such brave and courageous people! This story will become the main page of our family's life. Zakhar Belousov.
