Kuligin Sergei Alexandrovich

Kuligin Sergey Alexandrovich 15.03.1940 was called up for military service, which took place in the signal forces on Kola Peninsula. When the war began, he stood for the Motherland defence up. 10.06.1943 during one of the battles with the enemy in Leningrad, Sergei Alexandrovich was crushed his left leg-a wound. He was cured in a hospital in Leningrad, and his leg was saved finally. Sergey Alexandrovich went through a difficult time in the besieged city. In many battles, he fought with the enemy for the liberation of his homeland. 11.08.1944 in the battle to capture Permiskul-Saar island he proved to be a fearless signalman. When conducting a line across Narva river under enemy artillery mortar fire, he courageously unwound the telephone cable and loaded it to the bottom of the river. At that moment, an enemy shell exploded nearby, concussing Sergei Alexandrovich and breaking him through the side of the boat, which began to fill with water. Tearing his tunic, he plugged the hole, and not paying attention to the pain, continued to perform the task. His actions allowed to lay the line and save the property of communications and devices. For his courage and bravery, Sergey Alexandrovich was awarded the order of Glory of the III degree. So, step by step, he was able to reach Berlin and celebrate the Great victory. Sergei Alexandrovich did not return home immediately. After the war, he had to wait a long time when the railway tracks would be restored. Only after that he came to his father's house. Some time later, he married and had two children: a daughter and a son. So, until 1994, Sergey Alexandrovich lived with his beloved family, saw his granddaughters. And he didn't want to remember those terrible days. Sergey Kuligin was awarded several times: the medal "for the defense of Leningrad" - 10.09.1943; the medal "for bravery" - 26.01.1944; Order of Glory of the III degree-30.08.1944; Medal "for the victory over Germany" - 31.12.1945; order of the Patriotic war of the I degree-March 1985; as well as six anniversary medals. In addition, Sergey Alexandrovich was twice declared for excellent combat actions by the letter of commendation: on 11.06.1944 when breaking through the heavily fortified enemy defenses on Karelian isthmus and on 25.11.1944 in the battles for the liberation of Saaremaa (Ezel) island.
