Since his childhood, he dreamed to be a military man. Prepared for it. Already in the 8th grade he received GTO and Voroshilov shooter badges. In March 1941, he joined Komsomol. Since the beginning of the occupation during the was, he collected various weapons and ammunition in the fields and hid them. His sister joined an underground organization and recruited a brother. He was assigned to collect weapons. Later they joined the partisan unit “Petrel”. Rostislav was assigned to conduct intelligence and transmit information to the headquarters. The unit was active in the regions. Participated in the "rail" war in 1943 near Kursk. Rostislav received a Partisan ticket. In March 1944, the unit joined the red army. On may 27, Bityanov received a summons to the army. He fought on the first Belorussian front, in the reconnaissance and sabotage platoon, in the 89th Taman red banner division. He fought in Poland, participated in the liberation of Majdanek camp, where he received the order of the red Star. The soldiers and officers of the unit, in which Rostislav Dmitrievich served, became the first in Europe witnesses of the terrible crimes of the fascists in Majdanek. Then he participated in the liberation of Warsaw. Lodzi, Germany. He participated in Berlin operation from the first to the last day. Fights for every street, house, entrance, floor overcame the enemy's resistance. From April 30, 1945, together with other units, they fought fierce battles in The Reichstag. Victory! Betanov signed on the walls of The Reichstag building "Stalingrad — Berlin. Bityanovy". So he fulfilled the order of his father, who fought in Stalingrad and was wounded there. Rostislav Dmitrievich met with the allies on Elbe. After the war, he graduated from the Academy, served on the border, and worke as a teacher in the Academy. After retirement, he devotes a lot of efforts to the Patriotic education of the younger generation. Rostislav Dmitrievich is a member of the district Council of veterans. On November 5, 2019, the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Gora hosted the campaign "I signed the The Reichstag". In the presence and with the active participation of cadets of schools №1161 and №2009, school leaders, the Council of veterans of the district, Rostislav Dmitrievich repeated his painting made on the Reichstag walls in 1945. Moscow media -press and television highlighted this event. Rostislav Dmitrievich wrote a book of memories, which is now in all museums of the region.
