Glushchenko Trofim Firsovich

Type of Army: Aviation. Glushchenko Trofim Firsovich was born in 1911. Before the war, he worked at the airport in Boryspol. He participated in the battles against the German-fascist invaders from June 22,1941 as an air gunner-radio operator, then he studied navigation and passed external tests. He was awarded in 1941 by the Medal ""For bravery"" and the Order of the ""Patriotic war of the 1st class""( according to the documents of awarding archive), as well as the Medal ""For the defense of the Caucasus"". In the night from December 22 to December 23,1944, he did not return from a combat mission and was listed as missing. The entire group of aircraft did not return. In 2014, it was possible to find out the tragic circumstances of the death. It happened that three Li-2 aircraft took off (each with a crew of 6 people) to bomb the railway junction of Zvolen (Slovakia). Two planes collided on the approach to Zvolen at an altitude of 4000 m. The bombs were dropped in an emergency. Metelkin, who was in the same crew as Glushchenko, survived and their plane fell apart. As Metelkin wrote in the post-war period that he could not jump out with a parachute, he woke up on the ground, in the wreckage of the plane. The second plane completely burned down. At the same time, the third plane also crashed on the way back, one person- Orekhov- survived(Tereshchenko, Anatoliy Stepanovich - Book: ""Commander Of The Reconnaissance Group. Behind the front line "" - Page 72). It was possible to determine the combat mission with the help of Orekhov's award list, and the fate of the death of aircraft from Metelkin's story. Trofim Firsovich left a family - his wife and daughter. His daughter is my grandmother, and I am his great-granddaughter. The Victory, the names of our heroes and the pain that every Soviet family had to endure will not be erased from memory!"
