Gavrilchik Ivan Ivanovich
My grandfather, unfortunately, died young-he was not even 30 years old. My grandfather went to war at the age of 20, leaving a young wife (my grandmother) and two young daughters-two-year-old Lyubasha and eight-month-old Tamara. My grandmother always remembered with warmth and gratitude her father-in-law (Ivan Pavlovich) and mother-in-law (Alexandra), who supported her and helped raise her children. My grandfather returned home in 1944 after numerous injuries, including a severe one to the lungs, on crutches, with an open wound on his back. He was treated with natural remedies, and splinters came out for a long time. My grandfather worked as a chief accountant at a dairy factory, even when the consequences of his injuries confined him to bed, he still continued to work at home, receiving and checking accounting reports. In 1945, my mother was born, and in 1949, another daughter (my aunt) was born. When my grandfather passed away, my mother was only five and a half years old, my mother's elder sister was 12 years old, and the youngest was 1.5 years old. My mother says, that no one had ever loved her as much as her father did, and I knew from childhoodthat iI have lot the best grandfather during the war. My grandfather died very young, when there was no special record of war veterans. My grandfather's awards were not preserved either. I am prowd of my grandfather, his contribution to the Victory in the great Patriotic war, admire his courage. Despite the fact that I didn't know my grandfather personally, I always felt his presence in our lives. My mother and her sisters often speak about their father, and my grandmother used to talk about him. I am also glad that my son (grandfather's great-grandson) is not indifferent to the family's history. On the eve of Victory Day, we talk a lot about the war, and about how strong and courageous our ancestors were. This year, my grandfather will definitely join the ranks of ""fellow soldiers"" in ""Immortal Batalloin"". It is an eternal memory to my grandfather and all those who gaveus the opportunity to live, to love, to raise children and dream about the future."
