Glushkov Lev Ivanovich
Glushkov Lev Ivanovich was born on December 8,1924, in the city of Saransk, Mordovia. On June 22, 1941, he and his friends went to the forest. Crossing the Central square of Kyshtym, he learned about the beginning of the war. The kids were just over 16, just starting 10th grade. All of them went to the military enlistment office. They were accepted and sent as apprentices of a Turner to a mechanical plant. In June 1942, he was sent to the Miass aviation technical school. However, it did not study foe longbecause the situation at the front became critical. In early January 1943, a Red Army soldier was wounded during bombing. He was a mortar man,a racon. He took part in Kursk battle. In February 1945, he was sent to the Black sea fleet, sub-fleet brigade in Gudauta. Grandfather, a newly minted sailor, was assigned as the commander of the motorists ' squad. They went in convoys, guarded transports, transported equipment and wounded soldiers, weapons and ammunition. Second half of April 1945 the crew was sent to the far East. It was clear that war with Japan was not far off. So they became protection convoys in Japanese ports: Seishin, Racine, Ginza and others. However, the war was fast. Midshipman-submariner Glushkov served in the Pacific fleet till 1951. He has the following awards: the Order of the ""Red Star"", the Medal ""For the victory over Germany"", the Medal ""For the victory over Japan"", the Medal ""For military merit""."
