Rank: Senior Sergeant Branch of troops: Armored and mechanized troops. Vasily -mechanic-driver of the M4A2 "Sherman" tank, guard Sergeant, order bearer and participant of the Victory Parade in 1945. From the award list, it follows that Vasily served in the 3rd tank battalion of the 59th guards tank Lublin Red Banner order of Suvorov brigade. "There is also a guards badge on the chest, a sign "Excellent tankman" and two medals - for the Victory over Germany and for the Capture of Berlin. Badge "Excellent tankman" established by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on May 21, 1942, was awarded to the "most outstanding ... ... tankers ... from among the privates and Junior officers of ... the Red Army ... ". As well as to warriors who systematically show high standards:"...excellent possession of personal weapons,..., tanks and other technical means and their skillful use in combat causing losses to the enemy; immediate start and conduct of the accurate, annihilating the enemy fire at closed and open targets; individual and military regiment material possession comouflage; preservation of personal weapon and military equipment during every stage of a combat; careful maintenance of personal weapons and military equipment during the battle." As part of the brigade, Vasily Illarionovich had a chance to fight as a driver-mechanic on both Shermans and "34", under the command of all three brigade commanders. He studied at secondary school just for 8 years and even those - as an external student, since nearest school was too far away and he had no decent clothes to put on to attend classes. Before leaving for the war, he worked as a tractor driver. The summons to the front caught him right at work. After the war, Vasily Gaivoronsky returned to the Soviet state farm, North Kazakhstan region, Kazakh SSR. Returned to the position of a tractor driver. He married Tatyana Ivanovna. Three girls and a long-awaited son were born. After further training in Leningrad, he began working as a mechanic. In 1957, he decided to move his family to the Kuban, dreaming of giving a better life to his children. He began working as a tractor driver in the oil and gas industry, servicing wells, on Vakesh S-80-100, with a high-pressure pump, pumping water from the well. For conscientious work, he was repeatedly awarded certificates of honor and badges of distinction. Vasily Illarionovich passed away in 1979.
