Rufina Ivanovna Georgievskaya
The branch of the military is a military medical staff. The military unit is the 185th Infantry Pankratov-Prague Order of the Suvorov Division. Our mother and grandmother, Rufina Ivanovna Georgievskaya, was born on December 3, 1922. As an 18-year-old girl, she was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the 185th Infantry Division, the 155th Separate Medical and Sanitary Battalion (155 OMB). She was the senior operating nurse. From her memoirs about the war: “I had to experience a lot on the roads of war - retreats that hurt the soul, encirclements, long bloody battles. Medical workers were close to death all the time. I had to work in difficult field conditions. The medical battalion continuously followed the advancing troops and was constantly exposed to air and artillery attacks. We were stationed 3-7 km from the forward edge. The operating room had to be deployed in tents, dugouts, in ruined rooms, under continuous shelling and bombing. For 4-5 days without sleep or rest, under the illumination of kerosene lamps, they performed the most complex intracavitary operations to wounded soldiers and commanders. The struggle for life did not stop for an hour. From fatigue and sleepless nights, eyes were sticking together, legs poured like a leaden weight, then we broke ampoules with caffeine, drank it, and fatigue and sleep left us for a while. The battles were heavy, sometimes they had to hold the defense with a machine gun in their hands. " During the war, my grandmother donated about five liters of blood. The flow of the wounded was huge, especially near Moscow, in the Karacharovo region, where grandmother Rufa received her first baptism of fire. On March 9, 1943, she was seriously wounded near Smolensk. After treatment, she returned to her unit, where she was before demobilization. My grandmother said that she remembered the Berlin offensive operation on April 16, 1945 for the rest of her life ... “Early in the morning before dawn, a glow came from the volleys of 42,000 guns and mortars. They announced the beginning of the Berlin operation. The earth was buzzing with the rumble of guns. " Many of her comrades died before they reached Victory. Among them was the commander of the medical battalion Lev Davidovich Krupnikov. “He was a good commander, a wonderful doctor and comrade. He died one day before the Victory ... ”Rufina Ivanovna was demobilized from the army on March 22, 1946.
