Gorbatenko Fedor Mitrofanovich, a native of the city of Saki, Crimean region, born in 1923. Mother - Irina Panteleevna Kanibas; Father - Mitrofan Andreevich Gorbatenko. With the outbreak of World War II, the Saki chemical plant was evacuated to Krasnokamsk, Molotov region, and the family was also evacuated. Fyodor Mitrofanovich was drafted by the Krasnokamsky GVT of the Molotov region in the Red Army on 09.12.1941 and sent to study at the Molotov School. He took the oath on 01/01/1942. After 9 months of training, he was sent to the Kalinin Front as part of the 1170 rifle regiment of the 348th division. He was appointed gunner of the PTR company. As part of the 348th infantry division of Bobruisk F.M. Gorbatenko. From July 1943 he fought for the liberation of Belarus on the Bryansk front. 15.08.1943 he was awarded the medal "For Military Merit" for being in battles from 12.07.43. until 05.08.43 suppressed one firing point, which saved many human lives. In the battles near the village, Kozlovichi showed an example of courage. Being in the department in the combat guard, he repelled the attack of the Germans. Even when he was alone with his comrade, he continued to fight until reinforcements arrived. For this feat Fyodor Mitrofanovich was awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd degree.On 06/29/1944 fierce battles took place. The heavily fortified enemy defenses on the western bank of the river were broken through Drut’. Forcing the Berezina River, the settlements of Topol and Gorodishche were liberated. PTR platoon squad leader sergeant F.M. Gorbatenko since the breakthrough of the enemy defense on the western bank of the river Drut 'skillfully organized the seizure of a large knot of Nazi resistance, showing courage and valor. ... Especially distinguished himself in battle since 1944 when a German company was defeated on the Mogelev-Minsk highway near the city of Cherven. As soon as the column of fascists appeared on the highway Gorbatenko F.M. shouting "Hurray !!" raised the squad to attack and burst into the thick of the column. In this battle, the squad captured 14 fascists and destroyed up to 30 fascists. This feat was noted by the command, and Fyodor Mitrofanovich was awarded the Order of Glory, 2nd degree. In this battle he was wounded. After being wounded in December 1944, he was already in the ranks of the 86th Infantry Regiment of the 330th Infantry Division. The regiment was sent to the 2nd Belorussian Front, where Belarus was liberated in prolonged heavy battles. In March 1945, he was wounded for the second time. After being wounded, he continued to serve in the 326th rifle division of the 1097th rifle regiment. He met the victory at Keniksberg. Then he served in the 9-0th company of the ATP as the head of the repair section in the regimental army bakery. Demobilized on 03.03.1947. At home in the city of Saki, he worked at a chemical plant. In recent years, he worked in the Evpatoria SMU resorts as a plasterer. Fyodor Mitrofanovich lived a difficult and short life. He died in 1968, 1 month before his 45th birthday.
