Bazhenov Ivoli Yakovlevich

Rank: Senior sergeant. Branch of service: army, air force (except marine aviation), the coast guard, the troops of the NKVD border troops. Unit: 115th Kholm red banner rifle division. Ivoli Y. Bazhenov – the participant of the great Patriotic war. Before being drafted into the army, he worked as a shift drill master for a geological exploration party in the Urals. In may 1942, he became a cadet of the regimental school in the Elan camps. Then the squad commander, Sergeant Bazhenov, took part in the battle of Stalingrad. As part of the 115th rifle division of General Shumilov's 64th army, after the elimination of the Stalingrad pocket, it went from Nizhnechirskaya to the West, to Kharkiv. By this time, I. Y. Bazhenov became an assistant commander of a rifle platoon, and gained considerable experience in combat. He can tell about many cases when the soldiers of his platoon showed samples of courage and bravery, advanced skillfully, held firm. Many, including him, were presented with military awards. In 1943, Ivoliy Yakovlevich was concussed, and after the hospital was sent to restore communication in Belarus, where in Glusk, Mogilev region got acquainted with the future wife – Rakovoi (Bazhenova) Zoya Ivanovna. They had a son, Arkady, in 1947, and a daughter, Galina, in 1951. From Belarus, the Bazhenov family-on the transfer of Ivoliy Yakovlevich to the service-first moved to Severouralsk, and then, in 1951, to the city of Serov in the Sverdlovsk region. There he worked first as the head of the special communications Department, and from 1966 to 1983 was the Deputy head of the district communications center. For 17 years in this work, Bazhenov I. Ya. was awarded the Lenin jubilee medal, the medal "Veteran of labor", in his work book 38 incentives. In Serov I. Y. Bazhenov was known as a good and experienced signalman.
