Mironov Veniamin Borisovich

Mironov Veniamin Borisovich_x000D_ _x000D_ DATE OF BIRTH: 12/29/1912 _x000D_ DATE OF DEATH: 08/20/1980 _x000D_ _x000D_ My grandfather Veniamin Borisovich Mironov, Hero of the Soviet Union, colonel. _x000D_ He was born on December 29, 1912 in the village of Konstantinovka (now - Romodanovsky district of Mordovia) in the family of a priest. In 1929, after the successful completion of his studies at the Saransk secondary school of the 2nd stage with a pedagogical bias, his grandfather volunteered to work in Siberia, an activist of the voluntary society Osoviakhim, a member of the society "Down with illiteracy". He began his career as a teacher in secondary school No. 14 in Tomsk. In 1934 he voluntarily entered the artillery school. In 1936 he was sent to study at the Military Academy named after V.M. Frunze. He was lucky to study together with S.M.Budyonny. In June 1941 he received a diploma. From June 1941 he was on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. _x000D_ The combat path of Veniamin Borisovich was truly impressive: in the first months of the war he heroically defended Kiev, in 1942 he fought in street battles in Stalingrad, including in its hottest spots, such as the Tractor Plant and the Barricades plant, then on the Kursk Bulge, crossed the Dnieper in 43rd, in 44th liberated Belarus and Poland, took Berlin in May 45th. _x000D_ On May 31, 1945 "for exemplary performance of combat missions ... and the heroism and courage shown at the same time" the Guard Lieutenant Colonel VB Mironov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 7369). On June 24, 1945 Mironov V.B. commanded a column of heroes of Berlin Capture at the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow. _x000D_ After the war, he continued to serve in the army. After retiring to the reserve in 1955, Veniamin Borisovich settled in Saransk, where he worked as a military commander in secondary school No. 20 (today it is the Gymnasium named after Hero of the Soviet Union V.B. Mironov). _x000D_ Until his death in 1980, Veniamin Mironov was engaged in the military-patriotic education of the younger generation. There is a memorial plaque on the house where he lived. His memory is also honored at the St. Petersburg Military Institute of Physical Culture, in the museum of which there is his bust. By the decision of the Saransk City Council of April 30, 1986, one of the new streets in Saransk was named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Mironov. People like Veniamin Borisovich Mironov are truly our gold fund. I am very proud of my grandfather.
