But I remember in some isolated episodes, and not as a continuous series of life. Apparently, I was still not big enough when my father went to war in 1942, although I was already 10 years old. Or maybe life before that went evenly, without sharp shocks, with relative wealth, and the child's mind took all this for granted, which was not clearly memorized. Shocks and childish concerns began later, so everything that followed was captured clearly and remembered for a lifetime. Father was taken to the war when he was already 44 years old, this was the last reserve; the final draft age was 45. This age was supposed to serve in the rear units. But already in 1943 he found himself at the front, on the front lines. Father's life did not spoil either. In 1938, he came under a general purge and ended up in prison as an alleged former kulak. He spent ten months in the Chita prison and, as unexpectedly as he was arrested, was released from prison without much explanation. Later it turned out that a government commission headed by V.M. Molotov, a member of the Central Committee and a member of the government, arrived in Chita (in honor of this event, one of the streets in Chita was renamed to Molotov St.; now it is Leningradskaya St. ), in order to check the work of the NKVD (People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs), and all prisons were cleared of illegally arrested prisoners. Not having lived at home for a month, in June 1939, my father was taken to the Army by alarm, and on the 5th day he was in the trenches on Khalkhin Gol, in Mongolia, and fought against the Japanese. He returned from this war alive and well. He did not return from the Patriotic War. The father died in 1943. He fought in the 293rd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 96th Guards Rifle Division. At my request to the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defense (TsAMO) and the military commissariat of the Donetsk region, it turned out that, in all likelihood, my father died in the summer of 1943 in the Minersky district of the Donetsk region near the village of Stepanovka. In this village there are burials of soldiers of the 293rd Guards Rifle Regiment. And whether our father is buried there, there is no such information.
