Vladimir Vasilyevich was called up for war on August 25, 1942 by the Kurkinsky district military enlistment office in the 693rd Artillery regiment of the 238th red banner Order of Suvorov division, formed in the city of Arzamas as a radio operator. From September 1, 1942 to March 31, 1943, he participated in combat operations on the Kalinin front. From April 1, 1943 to October 20, 1943, he participated in the fighting of the Bryansk front, and from October 20, 1943 to April 24, 1944 in the first formation of the Belarusian front, and from April 24, 1944 in the second formation of the Belarusian front. In the battles with the German invaders in the winter of 1945, Vladimir Vasilyevich showed courage and ability to fight. March 26, 1945 with the destruction of the Danzig enemy, replacing the incapacitated telephone operator, in a severe artillery fire, eliminated six gusts lines of communication across the Dead Vistula, thereby ensuring seamless connection of the battery commander with the infantry and firing positions.
