Araev Mugash Sangadzhievich

CITY: s. Shambai of the Khosheutovsky ulus DATE OF BIRTH: 03.03.1926 DATE OF DEATH: - HISTORY: Title: Red Army soldier Type of troops: Ground forces, Air Force (except naval aviation), coastal service, NKVD troops, border troops Araev Mugash Sangadzhievich, born in 1926,was born in the village of Shambai, Khosheutovsky ulus in a large large family, there were 11 children. He was the youngest in the family. In the same village he graduated from 7 classes. In the year the war began, in 1941, he worked on a collective farm. In February 1943 he was drafted into the army. Lost everyone during the war and deportation to Siberia. In February 1943, he was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army from the Volga military registration and enlistment office of the Kalmyk ASSR. He served as a private in the 11th Cavalry Reserve Regiment in the city of Kamyshin, Stalingrad Region. He served until March 1944, as the regiment was disbanded. All this was connected with the deportation of the Kalmyk people to Siberia. In December 1943, Stalin's entourage carried out another criminal act. This time, it decided to deport front-line soldiers and servicemen of Kalmyk nationality to the Soviet rear, that is, to deal with the most energetic, mature and resilient part of the people - with the servicemen who took a direct part in the war, who served in the rear units, who were undergoing treatment in military hospitals, trained A tragic fate was in store for privates, sergeants and foremen of Kalmyk nationality, who, for reasons still unclear, were transferred from the army to the NKVD of the USSR instead of demobilization and turned into builders of workers' columns. Our fellow countrymen were ready to fight to the bitter end, not sparing their lives, but instead found themselves in a position essentially imprisoned on one of the countless islands of the Stalinist Gulag. So Araev Mugash Sangadzhievich in 1944 got to the station Polovinka Molotovskaya (now Perm) region. From here, on foot through deep snow and frost with the rest of the Kalmyks, they reached the village of Shirokovsky for 25 km, where at the beginning of 1942 the construction of the Shirokovskaya hydroelectric power station began on the Ural river Kosva, one of the tributaries of the Kama. Instead of a bed, they placed straw in the barracks, which were blown through, and fed them with gruel made of rusty salted fish with a smell. Mugash Sangadzhievich was only 18 years old, worked in stone and sand pits. They worked by hand, hammering the stone with a crowbar, a pick. There was only one jackhammer to loosen the stone. Literally a few days later, seriously ill, weakened, emaciated, disabled people began to appear among the quite recently healthy and mostly young people. The work was very hard. And only 50 years later, when collecting material for the book "Shirokstroy: Shiroklag", his family learns the whole truth. The cruel attitude of the Stalinist leadership towards its own people, fear, humiliation, injustice, hard labor conditions left an indelible wound in the hearts and memory of people who passed through the Stalinist camps. For valiant and selfless labor during the Great Patriotic War, by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 6, 1945, he was awarded the medal “For Valiant Labor in Great Patriotic War”
