Member of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. When the war began, he was 17 years old. He was sent to study at a medical school. He was called up to serve in the Maryanovsky Military Commissariat of the Maryanovsky district of the Omsk region in 1942. From November 1943 to March 1944 he served on the 1st Ukrainian Front. Participated in the hostilities of the Kiev offensive and Kiev defensive operations. From March 1945 he served on the 3rd Ukrainian Front. He served in the rank of a junior lieutenant of the medical service as a paramedic at a medical aid station of the 49th Guards Heavy Howitzer Artillery Brigade of Destruction of the 19th Artillery Breakthrough Division. From the beginning of hostilities, Ivan Mikhailovich was at the medical center at the brigade headquarters. Under the fire of enemy artillery and aviation, he provided emergency medical assistance to 25 wounded brigades and rifle units, of which six of them were carried with weapons under artillery fire to a safe place. With the right treatment, he managed to ensure that the wounded were left in the units without evacuation in the first-aid station, where they recovered, continuing to do their work. During the war, he visited Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria. After the war, he remained to serve in the army in the border troops of the USSR. He rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He graduated from service in 1973. After demobilization, Ivan Mikhailovich worked for many years as an ambulance paramedic. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the Patriotic War, the badge of the excellent student of the border troops, the badges "Guard" and "Front-line soldier", medals "For the capture of Vienna", "For the capture of Budapest", "For military services", "For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945 "," For distinction in the protection of the state border ", the medal of Georgy Zhukov and jubilee medals.
