He was wounded in both legs and shell-shocked. Fragments of an enemy shell hit the leg, but thanks to field surgeons, some of the fragments from the leg were removed, and the stuck fragments in the tendons had to be left in order not to make the soldier lame for life. Having spent more than a month in the hospital, Pavel Nikolaevich caught up with his fellow soldiers. Participated in the battles at the Kursk Bulge, was awarded the medal "For Courage". For battles in Poland he received the medal "For the Liberation of Warsaw". For crossing the Oder he was awarded the Order of Glory. When Pavel Nikolayevich served in a group of troops in Germany, he met a former prisoner of a Nazi concentration camp, Natalya Grigorievna, who was driven to Germany from the Kaluga region. And after her release, she worked in the service platoon of the unit. In peacetime, Pavel Nikolaevich worked at a bakery. He has three children and five grandchildren. When we all came to visit my grandfather, he talked about the war and loved to sing us a song about a wounded soldier, and then a tear flowed from him ..... Grandfather passed away on April 14, 2015.
