Bogdanov Pyotr Dmitrievich was born on February 4, 1909, at Drovyanaya Station in the Uletovsky District of TRANS - Baikal Territory in the family of a worker. He has incomplete secondary education. He started his professional life at the age of 16. From 1925 to 1931 he worked as a salesman in Chita, foreman of the forest lace in Shabartui village. In the years 1931 - 1933 he served in the army in Irkutsk: first in the Military dog Breeding School, which trained service dog handlers, and then in the veterinary hospital of the Irkutsk garrison. After demobilization he graduated from the School of Motorways and worked as a driver for Zolotorenko. In 1939 he was drafted into the army again, graduated from the Automobile Tank School of the Military District TRANS -Baikal and received the rank of junior military technician. In 1940 he was released to the reserve. In August 1941 he was drafted into the army for the third time and served in Transbaikal. Since November 1943 in the active army - on the fronts Volkhov, Leningrad, 3rd Baltic, 1st Baltic, 2nd Baltic, again 1st Baltic, 1st Belarusian front. He was wounded twice. He distinguished himself especially during the offensive operation Warsaw-Poznań while crossing the Vistula. On January 14, 1945 he crossed the Vistula under enemy fire on thin ice near the island Kempa Kanarska, broke through three rows of trenches and stormed an important enemy defensive structure, the village of Pulko. Pyotr Dmitrievich, wedged into the depths of the enemy's defenses, participated in the creation of a bridgehead on the western bank of the Vistula, enabling his battalion, and then the regiment, to cross the Vistula and Pilica rivers almost without loss. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1945, for exemplary fulfillment of combat missions of the command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time, Pyotr Dmitrievich Bogdanov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. After the war First Lieutenant P.D. Bogdanov was released to the reserve. He worked as a mechanic in the meat processing plant in Irkutsk, then in the fish processing plant in Sakhalin, and in Vladivostok as a train crane operator. Since 1964 he lived in Chita. He died on 7 October (according to other sources on 4 October 1973).
