DATE OF BIRTH: 12/07/1923 DATE OF DEATH: - HISTORY: Type of troops: Coastal defense and air defense artillery, coastal units, aviation of the RKKF and the Naval Forces of the NKVD border troops Atroshchenko Ivan Yakovlevich was born on December 7, 1923 in the village of Horoshevka, Gomel region, Belorussian SSR. In 1939, after graduating from the 9th grade of the Ogorodnya-Kuzminichi school (Dobrush district, Gomel region), he entered a 9-month course in Novobelitsa at the former pedagogical and working faculty. Ivan Yakovlevich began his labor activity in 1940, in the Deniskovichi elementary school, in the Brest region. On July 12, 1941, from his native village of Khoroshevka, where he was on vacation, he went to war. In the first year of the war, Ivan was awarded for his participation in the defense of Moscow. In December 1942, near Rzhev, he was seriously wounded by shrapnel - half of his palm was torn off. On the Kursk Bulge, Ivan, together with his comrades, defused 36 anti-tank mines for the passage of our thirty-fours. For accomplishing this task he was awarded the medal "For Courage". After treatment in the hospital, he took part in the liberation of Orel, Belgorod and Kharkov.After another wound he fell under Leningrad, in the air defense forces, served in the regiment of the balloon barrage, where he met the Great Victory. In October 1945, the front-line soldier returned to his homeland and was appointed deputy director of the Demyansk Special Children's Home, where orphans of the dead front-line soldiers and partisans were brought up. In 1956 he graduated by correspondence from the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of the Chkalov Gomel Pedagogical Institute, for more than 45 years he taught geography, biology and chemistry in Demyanki. He did a lot of educational work, led the agitational collective in the village council. His wife, Ekaterina Terentyevna Belova, is an honored school teacher of the BSSR I.Ya. Otroshchenko made a great contribution to the military-patriotic education of young people, was a frequent visitor to the city's schools, vocational schools, and the regional military registration and enlistment office. He was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the District Council of Veterans. At the end of the war, he received the Order of the Patriotic War of the first degree. The fond memory of a soldier, mentor, sincere and kind person will forever remain in the hearts of students, all those who lived and worked next to him.
