Rank: Sergeant. Type of troops: Artillery. Efimov Ivan Ilyich was born on November 23, 1923 in the village of Krasnaya Moskovka, Stavropol District, into a family of peasants. Graduated from 7 classes. At the age of 18 (May 11, 1942) he went to the front. In July 1942, he was promoted to sergeant and appointed commander of the Howitzer artillery gun. On August 15, 1942, as part of the 2nd company of the 20th Guards machine-gun and artillery battalion, he was sent to defend Stalingrad. He fought in the 3rd and 4th of the Ukrainian Front. Freed Transcarpathia, Poland, Czechoslovakia from the Nazis. On January 18, 1944, he was wounded in the arm, after the Sanbat he returned to his company. He celebrated Victory Day near Prague. He was demobilized from the army on December 15, 1945. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree, the Medal "For Courage", the Medal "For the Defense of Stalingrad", jubilee medals. During the war, a company accordion player was killed. The accordion was left without an owner, and the company without songs. Grandfather learned to play the accordion, although he never learned notes until the end of his life, he played by ear. Favorite songs were "Ogonyok" and "Blue Scarf". After the war he got married, the family had two daughters and a son. In 1953, the village of Krasnaya Moskovka, where my grandfather was born, was moved from the flooded zone to a new place and was renamed Podstyopki. Ivan Ilyich worked on a collective farm, for his achievements in August 1957 he was sent to the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition (VSHV) in Moscow, where he received the Medal of the participant of the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition and the Certificate of Honor. Since 1965, he worked as a plumber, supplied the village with water, and was repeatedly awarded diplomas and certificates for his good work. Ivan Ilyich died on March 22, 1984 at the age of 60, barely having time to retire.
