Martyntsy DATE OF BIRTH: 05/21/1921 DATE OF DEATH: 02/19/1985 HISTORY: By Dmitry Olshansky, Rovenki village. “My great-grandfather, Lozovoy Ivan Lavrentievich, was born on May 21, 1921 on the Martyntsy farm of the Rovensky district of the Belgorod region. They had four children in the family. Their father died early. After finishing five classes, Ivan went to work to support his family. He was the eldest male in the family. Received the profession of a tractor driver. 1940 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. He went to the front as a foreman, a conscript. The military unit is the 459th Infantry Regiment. He was wounded on May 21, 1943 by a shrapnel in the area of ​​the left shin. In the evacuation hospital No. 1229, the stump of the left leg was amputated. He miraculously survived; at home was told that he was missing. For more than three months he was in the hospital.By the Hospital Disability Evaluation Board Ivan Lavrent'evich was declared unfit for military service with exclusion from the account. In the conclusion it was written that he could not follow on foot. Conclusion: invalid of the Patriotic War. A participant in the defense of Moscow, Ivan Lavrent'evich Lozovoy, his feats of arms were awarded seven military medals and the Order of the Patriotic War. The second Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, was awarded to him on April 6, 1985. Until that time, he no longer lived. Ivan Lavrentievich died on February 19, 1985. After many years this order was awarded to the daughter of Lozovoy, Ivan Lavrentievich. He also has many commemorative medals. Even in peacetime, having a disability, he continued to work on his native collective farm for the good of our Motherland, moving on a prosthesis, and the "Veteran of Labor" medal was added to his military awards. He worked in his native collective farm as the head of a pig-breeding complex. Upon retirement, his native collective farm entrusted him with managing a large, beautiful apple orchard.
