Kuzmin Georgy Andreyevich
Rank: soldier of the Red Army. Service rank: Army, Air Force (except naval aviation), Coast Guard, troops of the border troops of the NKWD. In 1938 he was drafted into the army. He served for three years, first in the north, then in Rostov-on-Don. The war began, and immediately he was sent to the front with practice rifles. In the Battle of Rostov he was wounded in the leg, was captured and taken to Germany. In Germany he worked in a mine, then he unloaded wagons and other heavy work. The Americans released him and handed him over to USSR. After numerous controls he was left behind in the army. Until 1946 his military unit on German territory SS caught men. From the memoirs of George's wife Maria Timofeevna Kuzmina: "Three times the Germans captured Rostov, each time they took it back from the Germans. The last time he was wounded in the leg, bled to death and lost consciousness. The fascists went there, looked at who was badly wounded there - killed them and took the young prisoners with them. They looked at him - he was wounded in the leg, loaded him up and took him away. He woke up when he was driving at night in a wagon on a bunk, dark-dark in the wagon, a lot of wounded soldiers around. A man came by in the dark and said, "I am a doctor who is injured - I can help you. George came to his senses and said "I am hurt - I was shot in the leg." The doctor looked at him and said: "All right, I'll get that fragment from you now, but how do I hold you or are you going to grit your teeth and hold on? There is no anesthetic, only a pocket knife. George gathered strength, said that he would hold on, gritted his teeth - the doctor took this fragment from him. Then he said: "Go to the toilet now, there is a bucket there, treat the wound with urine. This wound did not heal the whole time he was in captivity. And then the Americans released him and handed him over to the Russian side. We checked - his story turned out to be true. They forced him to catch half-baked fascists in the woods. He always wore a boot and a scarf on the other leg. Then those who were in captivity were enemies, because they "sold their homes", traitors. He did not write home even when he could. He was demobilized in 1946, and returned to Orenburg." After graduating from the Pedagogical Institute in Orenburg, he worked as a teacher of chemistry and biology in the village Staraya Dombarovka in the district of Dombarovsky in the Orenburg region until the end of his life.
