Kozub Ivan Andreyevich
I was born into a military family. My father, Viktor Vasilishin, is a retired captain. Grandfather - Kozub Viktor Ivanovich, also an officer, took part in combat missions in Afghanistan. He was born in Krasnodar in 1953. Then the family moved to the village of Chelbasskaja. My grandfather always wanted to be a military man. After graduating from school he entered the communication school of the Novocherkassk High Command of the military with red flag, named after Marshal Sokolovsky of Soviet Union. After graduation he was sent to Karaganda as a train commander in the signal troops. After that he served in the GDR in the city of Dresden. On 9 July 1985 he was transferred to Afghanistan. He served as head of communication of a regiment for motorized rifles in the city of Shendant. It was difficult to serve because communication had to be established under constant fire from the Mujahedin. On August 8, 1985, the regiment in which Viktor Ivanovich served was withdrawn from Afghanistan, and he continued to serve in the armed forces on the territory of USSR. My grandfather received eight medals for his services in Afghanistan. My great-grandfather, Sergeant Kozub Ivan Andreevich, served in the Northern Fleet of the Anti-Aircraft Defense Forces during the Great Patriotic War. He was the commander of the anti-aircraft crew of DShK, which guarded the sea route to the port of Murmansk, which was used for the delivery of goods under lend lease from the United States, England and Canada. Each flak calculation took into account 2 kilometers of the sea route. It was necessary to escort cargo ships and ensure their safety so that the cargo could be delivered on time and to its destination. For the impeccable fulfillment of the military duty Ivan Andreevich was awarded the medal "for the defense of the Arctic" on 5 December 1944. Then their anti-aircraft crew was transferred to the Far East, where they fought with Japanese troops. On May 9, 1945, great-grandfather was awarded the medal "for the victory over Germany" and on September 30, 1945, the medal "for the victory over Japan". Besides these most expensive awards, my great-grandfather was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War, 2nd degree, and commemorative medals. After the war Ivan Andreevich worked in the collective farm. Telman St. Chel Basskaja, received the medal "for long and conscientious work". My great-grandmother, Kozub (Emelyanova) Tamara Alekseyevna worked during the war in the hinterland, in a fish factory and a bakery in the town of Nikolaevsk-on-Amur. My great-great-grandfather, Lieutenant Kozub Andrey Andreevich, defended North Caucasus during the Great Patriotic War against the German fascist troops. He fought in the artillery, was platoon commander. In one of the fierce battles Andrey Andreevich was wounded. For the courage and heroism shown in the battle the great-great-grandfather was awarded the medal "for the defense of the Caucasus". My great-great-grandmother, Anastasia Kozub, lived in the village of Chelbasskaya during the Great Patriotic War. She survived the Nazi occupation. He remembers well how during the war they had stationed a female flying squadron "Night Witches" in their garden (4 planes), and the rest were in the pasture and on the territory of the neighbors. I am proud of my relatives, true defenders of the motherland.
