Alexander Stepanovich was born in 1904 in the village of Molotovka, Chelyabinsk area. He completed 7 classes of secondary school. For 8 days the division fended off fierce attacks by superior enemy infantry, tanks and airplanes steadfastly and skilfully. In fierce battles, units of the division destroyed: up to 4,000 soldiers and officers, 94 tanks were knocked out and burned, and other enemy equipment was destroyed. The task assigned to the division was to prevent the enemy from entering the territory of PROKHOROVKA and to halt its further advance. The division fought heavy defensive battles, maintained its offensive power and, after moving to the counter-offensive, achieved significant successes. The success of the division was facilitated by the skilful and calm leadership of the units by the comrade himself. Personally Comrade KOSTITSYN is a courageous and determined commander, for whom he previously received the orders RED STAR and RED BANNER. Comrade KOSTITSYN, commander of the 183rd Infantry Division, was tactically competent, energetic and committed to the cause of the Lenin-Stalin party and Socialist Motherland. On July 24, 1943 he died a heroic death for the GREAT SOCIALISTS HOMELAND on the order of the High Command for the Further Development of the Offensive.
