Glushenko Ivan Vasilyevich, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, order bearer, labor veteran, honorary worker of the Volgograd shipyard was born in the Stalingrad region, in the village of Tsatsa, Svetloyarsk district, on October 15, 1925. Was drafted to the front on February 27, 1943. He fought on the 4th Ukrainian, 1st Baltic fronts. He received two wounds during the fighting in 1944 in East Prussia. Guard sergeant, assistant platoon commander of the 1st rifle company of the 5th guards rifle regiment of the 3rd guards rifle Volnovakha division, which received this name on September 18, 1941 (the 153rd rifle division was renamed the 3rd guards rifle division). September 10, 1943 - the division was given the honorary name Volnovakhskaya. The division was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for battles in the Crimea, the Order of Suvorov II degree for participating in the breakthrough of the enemy's powerful fortifications in East Prussia. In February 1944, the 3rd Guards Rifle Division was transferred to the area of the Perekop Isthmus and in April-May it took part in the Crimean strategic operation. Before the guardsmen there was a powerful defense of the Germans at Perekop behind the Turkish Wall and further on, the equally powerful Ishun defensive positions. On April 8, the division began the historic assault on Perekop. Four lines of enemy trenches were broken through in 20 minutes. In 34 hours, the guards reached the Ishun positions. Unable to withstand the rapid attacks, on April 12, 1944, the enemy left the Ishun defensive lines and, suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment, began to retreat into the depths of the Crimean Peninsula. The soldiers of the division made a 90-kilometer march per day. Sergeant Glushenko was wounded during the fighting at Perekop. He got to the hospital, and a month later was back in the ranks. 07/08/1944, the division became part of the 1st Baltic Front. In September-October 1944, the troops of the Leningrad, 2nd and 1st Baltic Fronts, in cooperation with ships and aircraft of the Baltic Fleet, conducted a number of successful operations to liberate the territories of the Union republics: Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The troops of the 1st Baltic Front, which included the 3rd Guards. The division, in which Sergeant Glushenko Ivan Vasilyevich fought, cut off the German group located in the Baltic States from East Prussia. In October 1944, the 3rd Guards Rifle Division entered the territory of East Prussia, heavy fighting began. For excellent military operations to break through the German defenses covering the borders of East Prussia, the division was commended. In East Prussia, the enemy had many defensive structures. But our units in a stubborn struggle took possession of them. The story of one wound and feat. It was in East Prussia (now the Kaliningrad region) on October 12, 1944. There were fierce battles. During the offensive operations of the regiment in the Kozhemekin Glushenko area, Ivan Vasilyevich, with his squad, was the first to cross the Kammon River and, gaining a foothold on the opposite bank, opened rifle and machine-gun fire on the enemy, allowing the entire company to cross the river without loss and move forward. In this battle he was wounded and evacuated to the medical battalion. For this feat he was awarded the Order of the "Battle Red Banner". The order was presented on December 31, 1944. Military awards remind Ivan Vasilyevich of the heroic days of the Great Patriotic War - these are the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Banner of Battle, the Order of the Red Star, medals For the capture of Koenigsberg, For Courage, For victory in the Great Patriotic War ”and 20 anniversary medals. Ivan Vasilyevich died at the age of 87, on June 7, 2012. He was buried in the hero-city of Volgograd, in the Krasnoarmeisky district.
