Nadezhda Bobrik

Branch of Service: Military Medical Staff My grandmother - Nadezhda Ivanovna Bobrik. She was born on May 2, 1924 in the village of Bobriki, Polotsk District, Vitebsk Region. The village was located on the border of Belarus with Poland. There were 11 children in a large family. Nadya was the last one. Father - Ivan Bobrick was a peasant who died in 1928 while building his own house. Mother Anna, after the death of her husband, was left alone with a bunch of children from young to old. My grandmother was four years old. The village was constantly raided by Polish soldiers. My grandmother told me that when her mother gave birth in the field, the Polish soldiers stood and laughed at her, poked her in the stomach with bayonets. Belarus joined a more "strong" neighbor, became a part of the USSR. I. Stalin offered Belarusians to develop Siberia, gave land to peasants. So, my great-grandmother Anna Bobrik with her children and with the other people from the village of Bobriki, in freight train cars moved to Siberia in the village of Krasnaya Polyana (near Bogotol). The trip lasted about a month. Then collectivization began, and from Anna's great-grandmother a horse and a cow were taken away. She was very much worried about this and fell ill. Her eldest daughters, Maria and Zhenya, were already married and lived in the city of Krasnoyarsk. Trying to make life easier for their mother, they took little Nadezhda to the city. My grandmother graduated from High School and entered the first year of Medical School in Krasnoyarsk (on Bagrada Street). The year 1941 came, the Great Patriotic War began, and soldiers were recruited all over the country. Nadezhda Bobryk, as well as the entire first year of Medical School (at that time she was 17 years old), went to enlist as a volunteer in the Soviet Army.
