Victor was drafted into the army after graduating from the first year of law school in Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg), in August 1942. For 6 months Viktor had been trained at the Artillery School in Irbit. After his training he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He fought at the First Byelorussian Front, 64th Guards Artillery Regiment, 31st Guards Rifle Division, 31st Vitebsk Rifle Division, Order of Lenin, Red Banner Division, Commander of the Artillery Battery. For many years we did not know about his burial place. Through the site prussia39.ru and the Memorial Society, we found medical documents and the grave of the deceased. In the medical document (magazine) under № 286 there is a record: Victor Ivanovich Zolotin, 1924 year of birth, place of service -64 Gv. SP, lieutenant, native of Sverdlovsk region. N-Serginsky district, Mikhailovsky z-d, called N-Serginsky RVC, Sverdlovsk region, died 28.01.1945, hospital 655 KPPG, Gross Lindenau, East Prussia mass cemetery, grave 22 (corrected to 7). Thanks to the site prussia39.ru it was found out that my uncle was buried in the mass cemetery of Soviet soldiers in Kaliningrad region, Gvardeysky district, the village of Ozerki (before 1947 Gross Lindenau). He was awarded the Order of the Red Star. Thanks to the councel of the Governor of the Kaliningrad region to immortalize the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland and the administrator of the site prussia39, on the eve of the Great Victory Day we received a message that the name of the Guards Lieutenant Zolotin Victor was immortalized.
