On January 12, 1945, in Poland, when breaking through the enemy's defenses to the north from the village of Stopnica, showing exceptional courage and skill, Horovetz destroyed 3 machine-gun emplacements, 2 guns, more than 15 nazi soldiers, and 1 bunker. On January 13, when repelling an enemy counterattack in the area of Buska-Zdroj, showing courage and fearlessness, he knocked out 1 self-propelled gun, 2 machine guns and up to 20 enemy soldiers. On January 20, he shot down 1 armored personnel carrier, set fire to 3 cars, and destroyed more than 20 enemy submachine gunners. On January 25, repelling enemy counterattacks on the West Bank of the Oder river, showing exceptional courage, fearlessness and military skill, he shot down 1 armored personnel carrier, destroyed 3 mortars, 3 machine guns and up to 30 nazi soldiers, which greatly contributed to the retention and expansion of the Oder bridgehead. On the 5th of February, the enemy launched a counterattack in the Kreisburg area. Thanks to the steadfastness and bravery of comrade Horowitz's team, the counterattack was repulsed, while knocking out 1 self-propelled gun, destroying 3 machine guns and more than 50 enemy soldiers and officers. On April 18th, 1945, he was seriously wounded by a shell fragment.
