Polosenko Pyotr Vladimirovich

Full name: Polosenko Pyotr Vladimirovich last NAME: Polosenko FIRST name: Pyotr PATRONYMIC: Vladimirovich CITY: Ukraine DATE of BIRTH: 14.02.1922 DATE of DEATH: 04.08.1992 HISTORY: Peter V. Polosenko was born on February 14, 1922. On may 17, 1942, after graduating from the Novosibirsk military school, Pyotr Vladimirovich was awarded the rank of Lieutenant. As the commander of a platoon of machine guns, he was sent to the military Council of the Kalinin front, where he was appointed Deputy commander of a machine gun company. From 20 to 29 July 1942, the division made a March on the cities of Staritsa and Rzhev. The March was made under cover of darkness, in difficult conditions. On the night of July 28-29, 1942, our troops occupied the initial position for the offensive 30 km from the city of Rzhev. On July 29, after a powerful two-hour artillery preparation and intensive bombardment of the enemy's front line, our troops launched a decisive offensive. Despite fierce resistance, the enemy's defenses were breached and the battle began in the depth of this defense. On July 30, Pyotr Vladimirovich took command of the company, as the company commander was out of action. The company, in cooperation with other units, successfully completed the firing task, destroying the enemy's manpower and firing points. Near the village of Belkovo, Rzhevsky district, Kalinin region, on August 3, 1942, Pyotr Vladimirovich was lightly wounded in the left arm. Despite being wounded, he commanded the company for several hours and, on the orders of the battalion commander, evacuated from the battlefield. After recovery, he was sent to the headquarters of the Kalinin front in the 334th rifle division of the 4th shock army. The division was tasked with changing the formation that was defending the city of Velizh. On September 28, 1942, when the division had just taken its initial position, German units launched an offensive to capture the Velizh-Usvyaty highway. Our 334th rifle division received a new task: immediately engage the enemy. The German units were driven back to their former positions with heavy losses. After completing the last task, the division took up defense near the city of Velizh. On January 17, 1943, at 11:00, the assault on the city of Velizh by specially designated units of the 4th shock army, which included our rifle battalion, began. From January 17 to January 25, 1943, the Germans continuously counterattacked day and night, raining down tons of metal from artillery of all types and calibers. The battalion suffered significant losses, but did not retreat a step. By the evening of January 25, 1943, the Germans, having pulled up reserves, after an artillery RAID, launched the last most furious counterattack on the front line. The battalion commander was killed, and many of the battalion's commanding officers were put out of action. Pyotr Vladimirovich was shell-shocked, but did not leave the battalion headquarters until the attack was completely repelled. In the battles of January 17-25, 1943, while serving as chief of staff of the battalion, Pyotr Vladimirovich Polosenko gained experience in organizing combat as part of assault groups, as well as storming well-fortified defensive structures as Pillboxes and Bunkers. He was recovering from a concussion from January 25 to February 15, 1943. After recovery, he was sent to the 1115th rifle regiment of the same division as a Deputy commander of a company of submachine gunners. The regiment was on the defensive in the area of Velizh. After the abolition of the positions of Deputy company commanders in June 1943, he was appointed commander of a machine-gun company in the same regiment. On September 16, 1943, the battalion was assigned the task of conducting a combat reconnaissance, and then on the night of September 16-17, 1943, the battalion took up its initial position for the offensive. At 6: 00, the battalion attacked the enemy's front line near the village of Saxony in the Velizh district of the Smolensk region. The German defense was broken, and the enemy retreated, suffering heavy losses. At the time of the attack, Pyotr Vladimirovich received a bullet wound to the foot. On September 18, 1943, the offensive began along the entire Kalinin front. After being wounded on September 17, 1943, he was treated at hospital No. 5870 in Kazan. Upon recovery, on November 14, 1943, he was sent to the personnel Department of the Moscow military district, from where he was assigned to the reserve regiment of officers of the 4th Ukrainian front in the city of Melitopol, where he remained until April 16, 1944 as a listener to a group of machine-gun company commanders. On April 16, 1944, he was assigned to the 28th army. From the army headquarters, he was sent to the 3rd guards rifle corps, and from the corps to the 54th guards rifle division as a commander of a machine-gun company. As part of the 54th guards rifle division of the Belorussian front, he went from the beginning of the liquidation of the Bobruisk group of German troops in the area of Bobruisk to the city of Warsaw. In August 1944, the 28th army was withdrawn to the area of the Zhabinka station in the Brest region, where, after a short rest and replenishment, the army arrived at the disposal of the 3rd Belorussian front, where it participated in offensive battles to the city of Eidtkunen in East Prussia. In October 1944, by the personnel Department of the 28th army, Pyotr Vladimirovich was appointed company commander of a separate army working battalion, which organized and performed loading and unloading operations for incoming ammunition and food for the army. Under the command of the company, he passed the battle route from the city of Eidtkunen to the city of Konigsberg. After the disbanding of a separate army working battalion, on April 23, 1945, he was sent to the rear headquarters of the 3rd Belorussian front, where he was appointed head of the control room No. 11. In this position, I met the Victory Day of the Soviet Army. He was awarded the order of the red Star (order no. 2789601), the order of the Patriotic War I degree (order no.1848439), the medals "for military merit" and "for the capture of Konigsberg".
