Bukarenko Nikolai Vasilyevich was born on November 20, 1923 in the village of Gerasimovka, Urazovsky District, Kursk Region (now Belgorod Region). After graduating from the Gerasimov school, Nikolai Vasilyevich went to study at the FZO school in the city of Ordzhonikidze, Stalin's region (now the city of Yenakiyevo, Donetsk region). The young man was hired as a locksmith on duty at the 6th Yenakiyevo Coking Plant. In July 1941 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. On the Komsomol call, he was sent to Kharkiv to the school of radiotelegraphists. The year of 1942, a young signalman met defending the city of Debaltsevo as part of the 6th light artillery regiment.
