Vladimir spent childhood and adolescence in the town of Pologi of Zaporizhskaya Region. From there, in 1943, Vladimir went to the front. From September 1943 to October 1944, he fought (combat operations) on the 1st Ukrainian Front, was a Rifleman, a medic. From November 1944 to May 09, 1945 sapper, 1st Belorussian Front. During the offensive battles of the division in 1944, he was wounded twice: on 13.07.1944, in the battle for Kovel, he received a blind shrapnel wound in the upper third of the left thigh. 09.09. 1944 in the battle at the Sandomierz bridgehead, he was wounded in the head and neck: a tangent shrapnel wound to the skull and neck from behind. For his courage and bravery on the battlefield, as well as for his selfless work, Sergeant Major V. Sereda deserved the government award - the Medal For Bravery. With a fragment in the neck, Vladimir lived all his life. The third wound left a scar on his back.
