He was born on May 10, 1919 in the Bryansk Region, Starodubsky district, and until his death lived there with his family in the village of Krugloye. In 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army. During the terrible years of the Great Patriotic War, he was a recon all the time, fought in Karelia. From 1941 to June 1944, my grandfather was on the Karelian front. During the time he was at the front, he was awarded 3 Orders of Glory, 1,2 and 3 degrees. _x000D_ Here are two front line episodes told by my grandfather. _x000D_ Episode one. On their sector of defense, the command set the combat mission to take the "prisoner tongue". The grandfather's department was instructed to prepare this operation. Carefully observing the enemy garrison, it was established that it was heavily guarded at night. During the day, many posts are removed. The enemy believed that at this time there was nothing to fear. As if reconnaissance in force, ambushes and other operations were carried out by Soviet troops only at night. And then grandfather and his squad decided to take a prisoner in the afternoon, when the enemy's vigilance weakened. By 15 o'clock, the capture group, which was commanded by my grandfather, approached the barbed wire and waited for a prearranged signal. The Nazis did not even have time to jump out of the dugout, where they were hiding from the fire of the artillerymen and mortars. Two enemy soldiers were taken prisoners, and 18 were destroyed in a short battle. Not a single person was lost from our side. For this battle, my grandfather was awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd degree. _x000D_ Episode two. In June 1944, the command of the Division ordered to take a "prisoner tongue" from Lysaya Gora. This is in the Kandalaksha direction, about 90 kilometers from the Kirov Railway, which connects Murmansk with Leningrad (St. Petersburg). Grandfather's group went to the foot of the hill and began to observe the enemy defense. For about five days, they monitored the movement of the enemy, studied the fire system. We found out at what time the soldiers change and number of them in a patrol. _x000D_ And so with a group of 7 people, my grandfather went on a mission on the morning of June 7. They crawled to the rear of the enemy, went down into the trench and along it came close to the sentries. Then, with a lightning throw, they tied up two fascist soldiers. When leaving, my grandfather was wounded in the leg. The situation developed in such a way that grandfather had to lie in a no-man's land until 2 am. Then he crawled to his own. He was sent to the hospital, where he stayed until December 1944. My grandfather returned home without a leg. For the capture of "tongues" on Lysaya Gora he was awarded the Order of Glory, 1st degree._x000D_ In addition to the Orders of Glory of all three degrees, he was awarded the Medal For Courage. While at the front from September 23, 1941 to June 7, 1944, grandfather went to reconnaissance patrol 180 times. He personally captured 7 enemy soldiers and a petty officer, together with his comrades brought 12 "tongues". He killed over 80 enemy soldiers and officers. As war trophies, he delivered to his unit 2 easel, 3 light machine guns, 6 machine guns, a stereoscopic tube and valuable documents of the enemy. _x000D_ All awards and medals of my grandfather are now kept in the Bryansk Museum. _x000D_ In his homeland, in the city of Starodub, on the main square, there is a memorial alley to the heroes and there is a portrait of his grandfather. In 1977, they wrote about him in the book "Three times Glorified". Recently a monument to the Heroes of the Soviet Union has been unveiled in Moscow on Poklonnaya Gora where the name of our grandfather is written. _x000D_ The Teslin family is one of the most respected in the village. The villagers valued my grandfather most of all for his exceptional honesty and directness. It was not in vain that for eighteen years he worked as Chairman for the Audit Commission at the Kommunar kolkhoz, and since 1959 at the enlarged Bolshevik kolkhoz. _x000D_ On the job, grandfather graduated with honors from correspondence Moscow accounting and auditing courses. In 1966, he was appointed a foreman of the field-crop Brigade of the Kommunar kolkhoz. For his achievements, grandfather was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. For many years he was the Chairman of the comrades' court and headed the group of people's control on his kolkhoz. Grandfather passed away on January 31, 1979. We are proud of our grandfather!
