Honored worker of the oil and gas industry of the RSFSR (1980), Honored oilman of the Bashkir ASSR (1965), Honorary oilman of the USSR (1969)._x000D_ Born on November 7, 1919 in the village of Sharan, Belebeyevskiy District, Ufa Region (now Sharanskiy District of the Republic of Bashkortostan), in a large family. He received a secondary education. In 1938, while still a schoolboy, Dmitry Mikhailov decided to link his life with the oil industry and began working as a Stoker's assistant for drillers._x000D_ He started his career in 1940 as a statistician of the chisel shop, and then worked as a driller in the drilling office of the Tuymazaburneft Trust._x000D_ In 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army. Dmitry Mikhailov was enrolled as a cadet of the Chelyabinsk Aviation School, but due to the difficult situation, the Junior courses of this educational institution were sent to the front. "Baptism of fire" received in the battles for the defense of Moscow as the commander of an anti-tank gun. On the Leningrad Front, he commanded an artillery battery control platoon. In February 1943, near Leningrad, he was seriously wounded. After recovering in 1944, he was sent to the aviation school of navigators with accelerated graduation. After graduating from school, he was a Navigator of a bomber, and received a second wound._x000D_ At the end of the war, Dmitry Mikhailov was sent to the aviation school of civil aviation pilots. After its successful completion, he flew as a co-pilot on a transport plane at Vnukovo airport._x000D_ In 1946, he returned to the Bashkir ASSR. Mikhailov was awarded the title "Brigade of Communist Labor"._x000D_ In 1961, Dmitry Mikhailov and his comrades reached the highest penetration in Bashkiria - 25,128 meters, in 1962 - the highest penetration in the USSR - 40,371 meters, with a penetration rate of 5,041 meters per Stanko-month and an annual savings of 364 thousand rubles._x000D_ In 1963, his team drilled 40,716 meters, retaining the all-Union record for penetration per team, and reached the highest speed — 7,075 meters per machine per month. The annual savings amounted to 462 thousand rubles. Such high rates of drilling have not been achieved by any team before, not only in Bashkiria, but also in other regions of the Soviet Union._x000D_ On October 9, 1963, the drilling team led by Dmitry Mikhailov was the first among Bashkiria's oil workers to complete a seven-year task (1959-1965) and drill 36,865 meters, or 24 oil wells, above the plan. Over the years of the seven-year plan, the team has achieved a 2-fold increase in sinking and a 1.2-fold reduction in the cost of a meter of sinking._x000D_ In 1965, his team showed the highest drilling speed in the Ural-Volga region — 13,037 meters per machine per month._x000D_ In accordance with the decision of the state Committee of the oil industry under the state plan of the USSR, in order to comprehensively study the deep structure of the earth's crust in the Volga-Ural oil and gas region and obtain data on the material composition and structure of the crystalline basement rocks, drilling of ultra-deep well #2000 was started at the Tuymazinskoye field. The drilling of this well was conducted by Dmitry Mikhailov's team, which by March 15, 1966 had drilled to a depth of 3,984 meters — the first time crystal rocks were opened with a capacity of more than 2,100 meters._x000D_ The team's best practices were widely disseminated and implemented by the trust's other drilling teams. He was a Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of the sixth convocation (1963-1967)._x000D_ In 1983, Dmitry Mikhailov retired. Personal pensioner of the USSR and the Russian Federation, on a well-deserved rest, continued to engage in public work._x000D_ He died on December 5, 2018, at the age of 99. He was buried in the city of Ufa.
