Artemiev Vasily Ivanovich
CITY: Tulan village, Molotovsky district, Kirov region. RSFSR DATE OF BIRTH: 01/27/1918 DATE OF DEATH: 04/05/2004 HISTORY: ARTEMIEV Vasily Ivanovich (1918-2004) was born and raised in a strong peasant family, which in the early 1920s moved from the Kirov region to the Urals, to Bashkiria. Ivan Gerasimovich, a full holder of the orders of soldier's glory, fought in Japan and the First World War, and a respectful attitude towards military service was instilled in the family of his sons. Vasily did not have a chance to engage in everyday peasant labor, his father sent him to study and gave him a good education at that time - 7 classes, and at the age of 20 he was called up to serve in the Red Army. I had to serve in the Far East and even take part in the events of the military conflict with the Japanese military on Lake Khasan, where the commanders drew the attention of the commanders to him, a savvy and disciplined fighter. After the first year of service Artemiev V.I. was sent to the Omsk Military Artillery School, which he successfully graduated in May 1941 and was assigned to the Moscow Military District. For the first time in Moscow, a new unit, new comrades and commanders, the beginning of service, long-term plans. But the war that began on June 22 made its own adjustments. Almost immediately, the rifle unit in which he served was transferred closer to the front line, namely to Vinnitsa in Ukraine, where the most difficult battles took place. With encirclements and retreats throughout the summer of the first year of the war, the Red Army fought with the Nazis for every village, for every city, and in these battles they gained military experience, at the cost of heavy losses they learned to fight. Lieutenant Artemyev Vasily Ivanovich, in the position of commander of a rifle platoon, 232 rifle division as part of the 2nd Ukrainian Front went through the entire war with battles liberating cities and villages of Ukraine, took part in the battles for Kiev, where the enemy was reliably fortified and it was not easy. Vasily Ivanovich not only commanded gun crews, firing at enemy positions, but also made sorties with a platoon into enemy territory, occupied heights, suppressing machine-gun nests and ensuring the offensive of our soldiers !! It was as if the native land took care of it, not a single serious injury to the very border with Europe. First Romania and then Bulgaria. The enemy dug in seriously, fortified positions of concrete and iron were built, the battle was fought for every meter of land. In the same place in Romania, in a trench, and not in a solemn atmosphere, he and his comrades were awarded military orders - the Red Star and the Patriotic War 1 degree. In the battles for the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, he received serious shrapnel wounds and contusion, the enemy's shell exploded almost nearby, then 9 months of hospitalization and write-off from the Armed Forces. Long treatment in a hospital, 9 months, on the territory of Hungary, and after that by that time the war ended and all officers who were seriously injured were written off to civilian service without asking their consent. Only two returned from those called up from the large village of Bakaly - Vasily and his friend, a school friend. This friend was found more than 20 years later by an award - the Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union. And then - a peaceful life, work on the development of a new branch of the economy - oil and gas. Creating a family, teaching at Kazan University and business trips to develop deposits. In the family of Vasily Ivanovich there were four children who were interested in their father's military past, for which he received orders, but he only brushed off: “Yes, I'm like everyone else! Nothing interesting ... ”I did not like to watch films about the war, but if I did, then with tears in my eyes. He died of oncology at the age of 86.
