Branch of troops: Technical troops, including Chemical troops, Railroad troops, Mototransport troops, Radio-radar troops, Road repair and trafic control troops and Topographic). My grandmother has gone off war very young, at the age of 16. Since the beginning of 1944, she was on the front line of the Karelo-Finnish front (Mannerheim line) with the military reconstruction team. My grandmother was the youngest employee there. At home in Ivanovo her disabled mother and a younger sister remained. It was a difficult war time: people lived in cold freight cars with a small stove, receiving 500 g of bread a day on ration cards. But it was youth and they wanted to laugh, rejoice and dance... And once, on the platform of a junction station not far from the city of Petrozavodsk dances were arranged. But they were interrupted by a scream from a passing train: "Air!" Everyone ran to hide in the nearest forest, where many shell craters were left after the bombing. My grandmother and her friend stood by a young birch tree. A lagging soldier ran past, who escorting this train and shouting "Go and hide in the shell craters!" Together with the girls, they barely managed to jump into the nearest one. And right above them flashed the very green birch tree, which the shell hit. "Your death has flown now!" - said the military. My grandmother and her friend met so long-awaited victory in the military recostruction train. But this train operation to restore the destroyed railway had continued after the victory. My grandmother returned home only in 1946. Now my grandmother is almost 89 years old and has two great-grandchildren, and she tells them about her military youth, which can never be forgotten.
