Alexey Ivanovich Kuchin

Rank: soldier. Branch of service: Army, Air Force (except naval aviation), the Coast Guard, the troops of the NKVD, border troops. My grandfather, Kuchin, Alexey Ivanovich was born on 8 October 1911 in the village Chmielewska, Vozhega district, Vologda region in a family of peasants: Kuchin Ivan Nikolaevich 1885 and Kuchina Maria Grigorievna 1883. In the family, except Alexei, were 3 sons: Arkady, Fyodor, Mikhail and daughter Lydia. Parents ran a large household and worked very hard. In 1932 the father, Ivan Nikolaevich was arrested because of his reluctance to join the collective farm and exiled to Solovetsky islands from where he never returned. Mother, Maria Grigoryevna and the eldest son Alexey Ivanovich were subjected to repression. In 1933 the case was dismissed, and Maria Grigorievna and Alexey Ivanovich were rehabilitated by the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vologda Region. Alexey Ivanovich went to work in the Arkhangelsk region, worked on constructions, on wooden rafts and tried to support his family in the village. In 1937 he married, and in 1938 the young family settled in Severodvinsk in the Arkhangelsk region, where they lived before the war. In June 1942 he was drafted into the Red Army, fought on the Karelian front as part of the 31st separate mountain rifle brigade with red banner and at the end of the war - on the 4th Ukrainian front. Was wounded, has combat awards. He met Victory Day in a hospital near Warsaw, where hr was treated after injury. He demobilized in autumn 1945. Brothers Arkady Ivanovich and Fyodor Ivanovich also fought in the fields of the Great Patriotic War. In 1946 Alexey Ivanovich moved with his family to the village of Yakshanga in the Kostroma region. He worked as a carpenter in the LPH Yakshang, built a house, raised three children and always had a household and cattle. He died at the age of 96, was buried in Ukraine in the Odessa region, where he lived with his youngest daughter for the last 4 years. The grateful memory of the Kuchin brothers: father, grandfather, great-grandfather Alexey Ivanovich, uncle Arkady Ivanovich, uncle Fyodor Ivanovich is kept by all our relatives with love and respect.
