Borisov Gury Andreevich (Andrianovich)

Rank: Junior Sergeant military Branch: Artillery Division: 234th Lomonosov-Prague rifle division of the order of Suvorov and Bogdan Khmelnitsky. The birthplace of Guri Borisov was the farm Pronin, where he was born on July 21, 1896, and if we consider that 1895 was officially the last year of conscription for war, this means that he was called to fight as an "old man". During the great Patriotic war, he served in the 1342nd SP, 234th SD and killed more than 170 fascists. This is one of the best results among all snipers who fought in the Soviet army and the German army. His name is included in the list of the best snipers of the Second world war. In the post-war years, Guriy Andreevich worked at the Ordzhonikidze collective farm as a foreman of the brigade No. 6, which by coincidence was located in Kuchugur, in his native farm Pronin. According to the stories of old-timers who worked with him at that time, in the 50s, a Soviet General who specially came to meet him found him at his workplace. Hugs, handshakes, and then a heart-to-heart conversation showed that Guri Borisov was still remembered even after quite a few years. It is surprising that the sniper, who laid to rest more than a company of enemies, for some reason was not awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Although, according to informed military estimates, he was obliged to become one. Apparently, a modest, with no streak of impudence, rural resident, who by the end of the war was already well over forty, fought for the Motherland, and not for orders and regalia of the highest standard.Sniper is the most dangerous military specialty. It is dangerous because the sniper who has taken up "hunting", it keeps in crazy tension. It does not allow him to relax in the cold and in the heat, to lose vigilance. Any even careless movement can lead to death. Apparently, the overexertion of physical and mental strength, as well as the factor of weather conditions in wartime, undermined the health of Guriy Andreevich. In 1962, he ended up in the Tsimlyansk tube hospital with a diagnosis of lung cancer. A few days before the death of a terminally ill father, the family of the eldest son Peter took him home. On March 28, 1963, one of the best snipers of the great Patriotic war died. Without loud speeches and pomp, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Novotsimlyanskaya. Now in the Tsimlyansky district, a monument is erected on the grave of the sniper.
