Mikhailichenko B. T. was born on November 27, 1923 in the city of Millerovo in a working class family. In 1941 he graduated from the 10th grade of secondary school №1. Was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to the Novocherkassk Cavalry School. In August 1942, he voluntarily transferred to the Airborne Forces and until November 1942 served as the commander of a rifle and parachute platoon in the 13th Airborne Brigade. In November 1942 he was sent to the active army on the Stalingrad Front as part of the 111th Guards Rifle division. He was the commander of a company of machine gunners, the commander of a rifle battalion on the 3rd Ukrainian Front.
