Litvinenko Tikhon Petrovich - Hero of the Soviet Union

Born in 1913 in the village of Belovo, Rebrikhinsky District, Altai Territory. Before the war he worked as a teacher and director of a school in the villages of Kamenka and Belovo. In the army since 1939, at the front since February 1944. Squad leader of the 545th Rifle Regiment (389th Rifle Division, 3rd Guards Army, 1st Ukrainian Front). Senior Sergeant Litvinenko on July 29, 1944, in the first boat under a hurricane of fire, crossed the Vistula River near the city of Sandomierz (Poland). The broken boat sank. With full combat gear, he swam to the shore and, with his comrades who arrived in time, captured the line. For two days with a group of 11 people held the line.
