Gubkin Grigory Nikitovich (1919-2003) Hero of the Soviet Union (1945). Participated in the war with Germany from September 1941 to May 9, 1945. Was at Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge, with battles took place Belarus and Lithuania. Captain, commander of the 2nd Battalion, 297th Rifle Regiment. On August 17, 1944 his battalion near Kudirkos-Naumiesis of the Lithuanian SSR successfully broke through the enemy's defense and was the first in the Soviet Army to enter the state border with fascist Germany. He was awarded with the Orders of Lenin, Red Banner, Bogdan Khmelnitsky 3rd class, Alexander Nevsky, Patriotic War 1 (1985) and 2nd class, the Red Star, medals "Gold Star", "For Courage".
