He was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army from the Kondolsky military registration and enlistment office in September 1941. In the rank of an ordinary soldier, after the lapse of time he got into reconnaissance near Kiev. During this time, he learned a lot and once successfully caught a German soldier, for which he received his first medal "For Courage". According to the grandfather's stories, when his parents and the residents of his village learned about the letter, they were very happy for him. He fought in intelligence for 2 years. In November 1943 he was wounded in the leg. Was hospitalized in a military field hospital near Voronezh. Sometime later, his leg was amputated. In the spring of 1944, their hospital was destroyed by the Nazis. And he was wounded in his left arm
