During the first days of the war, our 61st Penza Rifle Division entered into battle. On 15 July 1941, I was wounded and after being treated, I was sent to form the 49th Rifle Division and, as part of the 455th Rifle Regiment, I went through the entire war, recalls Fyodor Yakovlevich - I remembered the crossing of the Neman River, when the first two attempts failed, and the regiment ordered us to build flesh from improvised equipment and, having crossed the river, to gain a foothold there.
