The photo was taken on the territory of the present Bryansk region (until 1944 it was part of the Oryol region). In the centre, in a dark semi-coat with a white collar is the brigade commander Ivan Alexandrovich Ponasenkov (in some sources - Panasenkov), a native of the village of Buda, now the Dubrovsky district of the Bryansk region. In the ranks of the Red Army since 1936. Being surrounded and unable to cross the front line, political worker I.A. Panasenkov organized and led a partisan detachment "For Motherland". In October 1942, the 4th Kletnyanskaya Brigade "For the Motherland" was formed on the basis of this detachment - I.A. Panasenkov also became its commander.
