In February 1942, according to partisan intelligence, up to 700 German soldiers arrived at the Sinezerki station (Navlinsky district of the Oryol - now Bryansk - region). From February 23rd, they began to guard the railway bridge over the Revna River. Commandant of Synezerki, Chief Lieutenant Flider, immediately imposed a curfew on the population. All suspected of having links with the partisans were executed. On May 2, 1942, a group of demolitionists from the "Death to German Invaders" detachment under the command of Alexei Izhukin blew up a railway bridge using a boat loaded with 250 kg of tol and launched downstream.
