Gury Nikolaevich Gordeev was born in 1923 in Voskresenskaya Salovka village, Ruzaevsky district, Mordovian ASSR. On April,23, 1943 G. N. Gordeev was drafted by Ruzaevsky military Commisariate for military service and sent to the 491st separate machine-gun artillery battalion of the 159th Dniester Red banner, 2nd degree B. Khmelnitsky order Fortified Area of the 40th Army of 2nd Ukrainian front. Rank: Junior Sergeant. Branch of service: artillery. The 159th fortified Area fought as part of the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts (from December,13, 1943 to January,01, 1945). Having received sufficient combat experience, Junior Sergeant Gordeev was appointed to the position of commander of the 76 mm gun of the artillery division. On April 9, 1944, the gun of Junior Sergeant G. N. Gordeev destroyed 2 light machine guns under heavy enemy fire and as part of the battery suppressed the enemy's mortar battery, which contributed to the assault and occupation of Vama city (Romania ). For the accomplished feat, Junior Sergeant Gury Nikolaevich Gordeev was awarded the state award of the Red Star Order" (On November, 1944). On April, 30, 1945 in the battle for Chabun town, putting their guns in the battle formations of the infantry, Junior Sergeant Gordeev destroyed 2 machine guns and up to 15 Nazis by direct fire from his gun, thus he contributed to the success of the advancing our infantry.
