Sergey Andreevich Galkin (1917-30.06.1999)
Galkin Sergey Andreevich was born on June 1, 1917 in the family of a worker in the town of Kus, Chelyabinsk region. He finished seven grades of school and entered the Zlatoust industrial college named after Anosov in September 1934. In 1938, he graduated with honors from the college and on July 10, 1938, he started working as an engineer at the Kusinsky machine-building plant in the Department of the chief mechanic of the plant.
On August 31, 1938, he left the factory for conscription into the Soviet Army. September 1938 - December 1939-Military school. From December 1939 to March 13, 1940, he fought on the Karelian isthmus. It was the war with Finland. He was awarded the title: Military technician of 2nd rank. Since June 22, 1941 on the fronts of the Great Patriotic war: the southern front, the South-Western front, the 1st, 2nd, 4th fronts. He was wounded twice during the war. Firstly, wounded in 1941 on July 26 near Tiraspol (in the stomach, right leg, right arm, severely contused). He was in hospitals. On May 18, 1942, he was seriously wounded in the left arm. He was in hospitals. And again he came back to fight after injuries.
In 1943, he was promoted to senior Lieutenant. For military services, he was awarded orders: “Red star”, order of the Patriotic war of I degree, Order of the Red banner", Order of "Patriotic war of I degree." Medals: "For military services", " for the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945.
From December,10, 1947 to October, 10, 1948 he was a student of the Higher officer school. He served in the Armed forces until October, 13, 1958. He served in Odessa, in Nizhyn of Chernihov region, in the village of Yelizovo on the Kamchatka Peninsula, in the city of Kaunas in Lithuania. He was discharged with the rank of major, because of his illness related to the injuries received in the Great Patriotic war. In 1958, he came to Kusa with his family. On October, 21, 1960, he was employed at the machine-building plant as an instrument engineer. Then he worked as a warehouse Manager. Retired from the factory on June, 8, 1972
From 1975 to 1980 he worked as a duty officer in the District military enlistment office. He was the Chairman of the Military-Patriotic section of the Council of veterans, a member of the DOSAAF district Committee.
