Teterin Georgy Methodievich

Rank: Senior Sergeant _x000D_ Branch of troops: Artillery _x000D_ Subdivision: 143rd Infantry Konotop-Korosten Red Banner Order of Suvorov Division._x000D_ _x000D_ Our grandfather Teterin Georgy Methodievich was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet army by the Kirensk military enlistment office on August 23, 1941. A lot of them gathered there, patriots of the Motherland, ready to give their lives for its salvation. After Irkutsk, the whole group of young guys was sent to Chita, to Antipikha, where the fighters were for exactly 17 days !!! received the first basics of combat training. _x000D_ On September 11, a group of recons who had not yet fired on were transferred to the front near Kharkov, and therefore, probably in the very first battle, my grandfather was wounded and ended up in a hospital. While George is in the hospital, his comrades in arms went far away. He was catching up with them already on the North Caucasian front. _x000D_ Grandfather has many orders and medals, but there are also the most valuable ones, reminiscent of many terrible events... Holding the medal“For Courage”in his hands, grandfather recalled: _x000D_ “Our detachment halted at a deep river, the combat mission was set to ferry mines to the opposite bank, but the enemy's massive fire did not make it possible to do this by boats or other floating means. We touched the water, it was ice cold. And then the Commander asked: "Are there Siberians among you?" ... Grandfather said: "Yes! I am a Siberian ”- and stepped forward. Several more people stepped forward with him. The daredevils were given rubber backpacks with the same mines inside. Nine times under enemy fire and with a load of mines on his shoulders he had to swim to the opposite bank ... George survived in a dangerous crossing, but was wounded again ... And again a hospital, and again a hospital bed. But the soldier returns to his comrades in arms to the front line, in the heat of hell. _x000D_ After the hospital, there came a Battle of Stalingrad under the command of V.I. Chuikov, who later became Marshal of the Soviet Union. It was hard for my grandfather to remember that battle, but as he used to say: "Reconnaissance is always ahead." And already the rest follow them: infantry, Artillery ... As a reminder of that battle he was awarded the Order of the Red Star. _x000D_ The comman did not have enough information for tactical conduct of the battle at Stalingrad, so their reconnaissance detachment was ordered to get the "prisoner tongue" by any means possible. And now recons in camouflage coats deep moved forward at night in the rear of the enemy. The Nazis are asleep and do not know about the approaching danger ... Only the sentry did not sleep at the depot, but was professionally carried off without a single cry. Friendly snoring blocked the order: "Hande Hoсh!" In this operation, seventeen "prisoner tongues" were taken, including the Commander. For his participation in this special operation, Georgy Methodievich was awarded the Order of the Red Star. And all the same, despite the tactical and strategic efforts of the commanders, many of his comrades from the legendary 62-8th Guards Army were killed on that battlefield, in that bloody meat grinder! And he not only survived, but also went on to fight for freedom ... Next, Berlin was ahead! And unexpected and long-awaited the Victory had come !!! Grandfather recalled: _x000D_ Our troops are approaching Berlin. Suddenly drowning out the rest of the voices, a loud baritone is heard on the radio in the street: “Citizens, the Brandenburg Gate is open! The way to Berlin is FREE! " We waited, we knew, but all the same we were dumbfounded: “Victory? - No, it can not be?! Why, this is VICTORY! " _x000D_ And we, the descendants of our courageous soldier, are proud that among the records on the Brandenburg Gate there is also his record, that he fought, survived and reached, that they WIN! After Berlin was a link-up with the Americans on the Elbe, and then our soldier drove home for two years ... Two years !!! Because before arriving home, he took part in the re-evacuation of factories and the demagnetization of mines on ships in the Gulf of Finland. _x000D_ And only on August 1, 1947, two years after the war, on his birthday, Georgy Methodievich Teterin returned home! He returned wounded and shell-shocked, but alive and got freedom and a peaceful sky overhead! My grandfather passed away in 1997. _x000D_ A few days before the 70th anniversary, the heart of our veteran halted ... But the memory of him and his efforts lives not only in photo albums, but in the hearts and memory of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren ... We remember! We are proud! Thank the grandfather for the Victory!
