Leonid Mironov was born on June 16, 1915 in the village of Petrushino (now - Skopinsky district of Ryazan region). Since 1925, he lived in the village of Lyapino, Yaroslavl District, Yaroslavl Region, graduated from seven classes of school and a school of factory apprenticeship. He lived and worked in Kharkov, Chelyabinsk. In June 1934, Mironov was called up to serve in the USSR Navy. In 1938 he graduated from the Leningrad Naval School named after M. V. Frunze. He participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War in the Northern Fleet. _x000D_
He took part in the battles of the Soviet-Japanese war, being the commander of the frigate "EK-2", 1st brigade of patrol ships of the Pacific Fleet. On August 14, 1945, Mironov's frigate with an advanced landing detachment entered the bay of the city of Seisin (now Chongjin, North Korea) and successfully landed troops, which contributed to the successful capture of the city. Mironov personally directed the fire of his frigate, contributing to a large extent to the success of the paratroopers' actions._x000D_
On August 15, the frigate landed a second echelon of paratroopers, and then delivered a large group of wounded to Vladivostok. Thanks to the constant maneuvering, the frigate did not suffer at all. _x000D_
On August 22-23, 1945, Mironov's frigate delivered an amphibious detachment to the southern tip of Sakhalin, which contributed to the capture of the port of Maoka (now Kholmsk). _x000D_
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 14, 1945, Lieutenant-Commander Leonid Mironov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal for "courage and heroism shown in the fight against Japanese militarists". _x000D_
After the end of the war, Mironov continued to serve in the USSR Navy. He graduated from special courses for officers and the Naval Academy. In June 1960, with the rank of captain of the first rank, Mironov was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Riga. _x000D_
He died on October 10, 1991, and was buried at Mikel's cemetery in Riga. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and the Red Star, and other medals.
